Youth and Young Adult Ministry

 

Our goal at Rolling Hills is to create a place where ALL YOUTH are encouraged to be themselves, to love others, to ask questions, to explore their relationship with God, and to be appreciated just as they are.

We gather weekly and would LOVE for you to join us! Bring a friend, if you’d like!

Saturday LATE NIGHTS:

We have a Middle School LATE NIGHT and a High School LATE NIGHT every month from 6pm-10pm. We eat snacks, play games, do service, and generally have a BLAST!

There are also events like fundraisers, hayrides, special holiday events etc… So be sure to check out our YOUTH GOOGLE CALENDAR to stay up-to-date with the latest!

*EVERY Sunday:

9:30am Youth Group Breakfast

We grab a quick breakfast in the kitchen and check-in with each other. Then we head to worship together. It’s a great way to start out your Sunday morning!

10am Youth Worship together

Grab a youth worship clipboard on your way into the worship service and sit with your youth group pals usually toward the front of the sanctuary on the left side as you face the pulpit. Our clipboards are intended to help aid in worship concentration by providing a place to doodle/color, and answer worship-related questions for contemplation. Adults are welcome to grab a worship clipboard too!

11-11:45am YOUTH CONNECTION (church school), and CONFIRMATION

  • Youth Connection: Those who aren’t into band or Confirmation will be meeting in the senior high youth room for connection and worship reaction.

    • Confirmation: Our 8th graders meet in the Middle School youth room for their weekly confirmation class. CHECK OUT MORE Confirmation INFO BELOW!

    • Church School: Those not in Confirmation or doing other things in the church will meet in the Senior High Room for connection and Sunday School type lessons.

*on holiday weekends, we typically just do worship together—but be sure to check the calendar

CONFIRMATION

(All 8th graders)

We meet on Sundays at 11am in the Middle School Room.

Emily will be teaching, with many special guests—including Rev Ted and Rev Tom. Be sure to click on the schedule button above! At the end of the process, your Confirmand will be a MEMBER of Rolling Hills! That’s why we make a serious attempt to give our Confirmands as much info as possible through the process. We encourage critical thinking and want our Confirmands to start forming their own theology. There won’t be too much homework—mostly practical ways we can live out our faith each week. There will be one paper due at the end of the process called the Statement of Faith and we will work on those together and have easy ways to make that project less daunting.

As part of our class expectations, each Confirmand will:

  1. Attend as many confirmation classes as possible—and study anything that was missed

  2. Make coming to confirmation a priority. We understand that there are some sports and activities that keep you away from church on a Sunday morning, and that’s okay, just try your best to be here unless it’s critical that you can’t.

  3. Let me know when you’ll be gone, and I will send out an easy lesson review the Monday after your missed class.

  4. Attend worship at 10am with their peers

  5. Participate in the leadership of worship by helping with reading/writing prayers, singing, playing in the band, helping with the A/V team, ushering, greeting, etc. There’s something for every preference and comfort level.

What can parents do during confirmation??

Feel free to pop in and learn with your Confirmand every once and a while

Enjoy coffee time in the narthex or Fireside Room

Take an adult Sunday School class in A/B

Anytime you bring a new friend to church you (and your friend) can pick a prize from the YOUTH PRIZE BUCKET! From full sized candy bars, to Starbucks gift cards, to travel mugs—even a space jam blanket!
